Promotion of cultures and affirmative practices in higher education: somefervent ideas

O debate da questão racial ainda é recente no Brasil. Dado que o direito à igualdade,no contexto da construção da cidadania, perpassa o papel da universidade e demaisinstituições de ensino, especialmente as públicas, o debate das ações afirmativas tem recebido cada vez mais atenção e sido mais desafiador. Contudo, esse processo é prenhe de contradições e conflitos. Nossa intenção, no contexto da reflexão das ações afirmativas, é tensionar e adensar saberes e iniciativas relacionadas à promoção da identidade étnico-racial e à construção de relações (dentro e fora da universidade) pautadas pela equidade de direitos e respeito à diversidade étnico-cultural.

The debate on the racial issue is still recent in Brazil. Given that the right to equality, in the context of the construction of citizenship, is part of the role of the university and othereducational institutions, especially public institutions, the affirmative action debate has received more and more attention and has been more challenging. However, this process has been full of contradictions and conflicts. In the context of affirmative action thinking, we aim to stress and deepen the knowledge and initiatives related to the promotion of the ethnic-racial identity and relationship building (inside and outside the university) guided by equal rights and respect for the ethnic and cultural diversity.
