O presente artigo expõe a reflexão sobre a categoria território no contexto histórico de produção e de reprodução da acumulação capitalista, tendo por referência a leitura do geógrafo político David Harvey, autor que se coloca como tarefa a elaboração de uma teoria geral das relações espaciais e do desenvolvimento geográfico no modo de produção capitalista a partir da teoria social marxista. Tem por pressuposto contribuir
também para a explicação das transformações das funções do Estado. Para tanto, sistematizamos pontos relevantes elaborados pelo autor em seu esforço de constituição de uma geografia política do capitalismo. O trabalho tem ainda por foco, contribuir para problematizar a relação entre a conformação do território e o papel do Estado na gestão das políticas públicas e sua relação com direitos de cidadania.

Title: The territory in the capitalist accumulation: possibilities of this category from David Harvey´s theory

The present article exposes reflection about the territory category in the capitalist accumulation production and reproduction historical context, with reference on the reading of the author David Harvey, who built himself as task the elaboration of a general theory of the space relations and the geographic development in the capitalist production embased on the marxist social theory. For that, has estimated to also contribute for the explanation of the transformations of the functions of the State. For in such a way, we systemize excellent points elaborated by the author in its effort of constitution of a geography politics of the capitalism. The work has for focus to contribute to think the relation enters the conformation of the territory and the paper of the State in the management of the public politics and its relation with citizenship rights.
