“I used to be respected there”: Recognition and Right to the City in aneighbourhood of Minha Casa Minha Vida Program

Neste artigo busca-se relacionar a teoria do reconhecimento - colocando em diálogo Axel Honneth, Charles Taylor e Nancy Fraser - à discussão gerada ao redor da noção de direito à cidade, desenvolvida por Lefebvre e Harvey. Na primeira parte do artigo, exploro possibilidades de como a teoria do reconhecimento pode dialogar com a análise urbana. Em seguida, apresento parte de uma pesquisa realizada em um bairro do Programa Minha Casa Minha Vida no Rio de Janeiro, onde o tema do reconhecimento foi trazido pelosmoradores que ali vivem (em sua maioria) após terem sido removidos de distintas favelas da cidade.

This article seeks to relate the theory of recognition - putting in dialogue Axel Honneth,Charles Taylor and Nancy Fraser – with the discussion generated around the notion of right to the city, developed by Lefebvre and Harvey. In the first part of the article, I will be exploring some possibilities on how the theory of recognition can articulate with urban analysis. Then I will present part of a survey conducted in a neighbourhood of the My Home My Life Program (Programa Minha Casa Minha Vida) in Rio de Janeiro, where the theme of recognition was brought by the residents who live there after being removed from different favelas in the city
